Regulations for USCG–Approved PFDs in Florida

Under Florida law, children under six years of age must wear a USCG–approved life jacket at all times while on any vessel less than 26 feet in length that is underway upon Florida waters. This regulation is in place to ensure the safety of young children who may be at a higher risk of drowning in case of an accident.

Additionally, each person on board a personal watercraft (PWC) and anyone being towed behind a vessel must also wear a USCG–approved life jacket. This requirement extends to all individuals, regardless of age, to promote water safety and prevent accidents or fatalities in Florida's waterways.
