How many ears are on a praying mantis?

Praying Mantis Ears

A praying mantis has two ears. Unlike many other insects, the mantis has a single ear located in the middle of its body, on the underside of its belly, just forward its hind legs.

Despite this peculiarity, it serves the same purpose as bipartite ears in other creatures. This single ear enables the mantis to detect ultrasound waves emitted by predators such as bats, offering it a chance to evade and survive.
